Una luz de significado en la oscuridad del mero existir.

The True lessons from Pueto Rico's Economy.

http://thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/7903-lessons-from-puerto-ricos-economy The only lesson that you can get from Puerto Rico's Economy and from the republican philosophy that governor Fortuño is trying to implant is that both, the republican philosophy and governor Fortuño, absolutely suck. I'm a puertorican, I've live here in Puerto Rico all my life, except for one year that I lived in Ocala, Florida... the point is, I know what I'm writing about... The same can't be said about the person who wrote this article. Of course, this is an interview with the governor and he was going to tell the reporter that everything is working just fine. The truth is that everything is a mess. Everything is worse than when this governor took office. Fortuño wasn't elect by the people in the 2008 election because he's a republican. He was elected because people didn't trust Anibal Acevedo Vila, the governor from 2004 to 2008... a man that was accused in federal cour for corruption. Acevedo Vila eventually was found not guilty, but accusations were reason enough for people to vote for Fortuño in 2008. That said, people didn't elected Fortuño because he is republican. In Puerto Rico people don't care about democrats and republicans... politics in here works A LOT different. And one interesting fact is that during the 2008 campaign Fortuño promised that he wasn't going to fire any goverment employee... at the end he lied. Almost everything he's done so far hasn't work. The economy is worst than ever. The unemployment numbers are reaching 20%. The criminality is ever present... last year there were almost 1,000 murders... by this time, june 18, 2011, almost 500 people have been murdered. The health care system is collapsing, mainly because it is privatized and there's chaos, citizens are getting mediocre services and providers aren't been paid. The public educational system is also collapsing. They're closing schools instead of open more schools. They're getting rid of teachers instead of hire more. And there's a lot more examples of how a decadent society Puerto Rico is, mainly because the politicians that care more about their personal agendas than the people that elected them. Fortuño is not the only responsible to be fair. All of Puerto Rico's problems are an accumulation of 50 years of mediocre and corrupt politicians, all under the indifferent eye of the federal goverment. But again, Fortuño is the present governor an he must answer for his lies, hypocrisy and poor administration. I'm not a politician, a lawyer or a political science proffesor. I am a regular John Doe, a common citizen, struggling to survive in a country (USA territory or colony) where everything is collapsing. Things are a lot more harder and painful than taking off a Band-Aid.
